Saltburn-Food-Festival---2024

WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

A firm favourite on the national foodie calendar, the annual festival has previously been flagged up by The Sunday Times as one of the reasons why Saltburn is ‘one of the best places to live in the UK.’

Now, around 100 of the best local food producers from Teesside, the North East and North Yorkshire are set to join Saltburn’s much-loved independent foodies, as the town centre is again transformed into a buzzing festival village for a day packed full of good local food for all the family to enjoy.

Milton Street, Dundas Street East and West and the town’s Station Street will be closed to traffic, and become alive with the sights and smells of great local food.

A bustling street market will feature an exciting mix of world street food, veggie & vegan specials, local artisan bakers and cheese makers, locally produced beer, cider and gin, outdoor dining and picnic areas and street theatre to create a family-friendly festival right in the heart of the town.

The festival’s popular Live Food Theatre will also make a hugely welcome return on an outdoor stage in Station Square, featuring a tasty mix of some of the region’s best chefs and exciting newcomers.

As in previous years, and to help keep prices as affordable as possible for families to enjoy the day, admission to the festival remains free.

Feel free to check our website and, especially, our Facebook page for further updates and let’s look forward to a fantastic day on Sunday 30  July.

WHAT WE’RE ABOUT

We bring good local food right into the heart of the town we’re proud to call home, we also run Saltburn’s popular monthly Farmers Market, held on the second Saturday of the month.

The Food Festival is inspired by memories of a family holiday to the historic French wine region of Bergerac on the North Bank of the Dordogne.

Sitting at a night market, enjoying amazing local food right there on the street, we loved the sense of community and togetherness around the whole place.

We thought there was nothing they were doing in France that we couldn’t do in towns and villages in this country, so we decided to give it a go right here in Saltburn. 10 years later we are here getting ready for Saltburn food festival 2023!

TRANSPORT

Wow! Thank you to everyone that left the car behind in 2023 and made the most of the transport we put on. This year we will be increasing bus services to and from Guisborough and having a dedicated morning bus service to and from Saltburn Golf Club – as we know how busy that got! We are in talks with the train companies to enlist their support so do check back here closer to the festival for our up to date transport plan.

*2023 – Park and Ride, Guisborough. (Service FF1)

We have arranged a special park and ride bus service direct from Guisborough to Saltburn, calling at Guisborough Hall and Skelton High Street on the way.

Guisborough has lots of car parks open on Sundays so a great way to travel is to head to Guisborough and get the bus from Fountain Street Car park.

The special festival bus (FF1) runs every 15 minutes, with the first bus leaving Fountain Street car park at 9.30am, arriving in Saltburn at 9.55am. The last bus leaves Guisborough at 5.15pm.

The return service leaves Saltburn every 15 minutes from 10am, with the last bus leaving Saltburn at 5.45pm.

The bus fare is £4 return, free for under 16s.

*2023 – Park and Ride, Brotton. (Service FF2)

The Freeborough Academy in Brotton opens its car park, and a park and ride bus will run from Freeborough and pick up on Coach Road on the way to Saltburn.

The special festival bus (FF2) runs every 30 minutes, with the first bus leaving Freeborough at 9.30am, arriving in Saltburn at 9.40am. The last bus leaves leaves Freeborough at 5.30pm.

The return service leaves Saltburn Station Square every 30 minutes from 9.40am, with the last bus leaving Saltburn at 5.40pm.

The bus fare is £4 return, free for under 16s.

*2023 – FF3: Redcar Lakes and Ings to Saltburn Food Festival.

We have a special festival bus running from Kirkleatham Lane via Redcar Lakes and Ings direct to Saltburn on the big day itself.

Service FF3 runs every 30 minutes, with the first bus at 9.30am and last bus from Redcar at 5pm.

The first bus starts 9.30am, using the following route and the existing Arriva bus stops:

Stopping at the Huntington/Hambleton Avenue bus stop on Kirkleatham Lane – then turning right into Roseberry Road.

Stopping at Roseberry Road West End, then heading straight up to West Dyke Road and turning right.

Stopping at Lingmell Road and Aldi – then turning right into Larkswood Road and Plantation Road.

Stopping at Plantation Road – then turning left onto Redcar Lane.

Stopping at Wheatlands Park and Turners Mill – then turning right into Greenstones Road.

Stopping at Saltscar, The Hampstead, Cormorant Drive and Terrivian – before continuing onto Saltburn.

The return service leaves Saltburn Station Square every 30 minutes from 10.05am, with the last FF3 bus leaving Saltburn at 5.35pm.

The bus fare is £4 return, free for under 16s.

We hope everyone has a fantastic day, and please feel free to check our Facebook page for any updates.

DOGS

Good News for Dog Owners

We love dogs, but the Festival does get very busy and isn’t the ideal environment for your furry friend.

Rather than let your dog get stressed, our friends at Star Paws Saltburn are offering doggy daycare and walks so you can enjoy your day and be sure your dog does too.

They can collect your dog from the festival, walk them and care for them (and fed if required) for either 2 hours or 4 hours, before being returned to you at the festival.

If you just want a short break they will also be offering walks for either 30 minutes or 1 hour.

Advance bookings are available but not essential. For more information or to book, message their facebook page directly here

Or, just come to the festival and look for one of the Paw Pals vehicles (parked either end of Milton Street) and ask a member of their staff.

And, obviously, please don’t leave your dog in the car.
